10 and Under Tennis QuickStart Workshop

The USTA offers 10 and Under Tennis QuickStart workshops are hands-on training for anyone who will be coaching and guiding players age 10 and under. The TAUT QuickStart Tennis workshop teaches the 10 and Under Tennis utilizing Red, Orange and Green ball activities and age appropriate racquets and court dimensions. Learn all of the really simple methods, drills and activities to get kids playing tennis right away! Our workshops are filled with high school coaches, volunteers, parents, after school personnel along with local teaching pros.

Recreational Coaches Workshop

A Recreational Coach Workshop is an interactive, on-court training program designed for tennis teachers and coaches working with players at the recreational level. Anyone interested in learning the basics of coaching and teaching tennis or seeking a refresher on more current methods and effective tools should attend. This active 6-hour session covers games and drills every coach should know, the games-based approach to coaching, teaching large groups and running effective team practices.

Coach at a Player Development Camp

Player Development Camps are tools for COACH IDENTIFICATION as well as Player Identification. ALL NorCal Coaches are invited to attend the Coaches Orientation run by a NorCal Coaches Commission member prior to the start of each Player Development Camp. Learn the USTA Teaching and Coaching Philosophy (created by Jose Higueras and Patrick McEnroe) that is implemented at the National Training Centers. Regional Training Centers provide a FREE High Performance Coaching Education session from 11-2 pm on the Friday prior to the start of each RTC Camp. This session is lead by a USTA National Coach. Please attend to learn the USTA Teaching and Coaching Philosophy which is being implemented to train players at each of the three National Training Centers in the US: Boca Raton, East, and West. All NorCal coaches and player personal coaches are invited to attend an RTC camp to network, grow, and to learn from one another.

Coach Webinars: USTA Teaching and Coaching Philosophy

Webinar goal is to assist coaches in preparing their players for the intensive 2- day RTC Camps.  Details will include the Teaching and Coaching Philosophy set out by the USTA Director of Coaching, Jose Higueras.  These teaching techniques are implemented in the three USTA National Training Centers; East, West, and Boca, as well as all Regional Training Centers.

NorCal High Performance Coaching

Approximately 40 USTA Certified High Performance Coaches are located in Northern California.  The USTA NorCal Coaches Commission facilitates the network of coaches and programs, training a continuous wave of juniors in alignment with the USTA Teaching and Training Philosophy.  The NorCal Collegiate Varsity Committee is creating awareness for the role of college tennis in the competitive development pathway.  Read More

USTA High Performace Coaching Program & Certification

USTA Player Development established a Coaching Education Department to provide coaches throughout the country with a Teaching and Coaching Philosophy and methodology that will enhance their teaching and training efforts, and provide them with a vehicle for transmitting their knowledge to today’s junior players and tomorrow’s Champions.  Read More
