NCTF ForeHand Organization Grants

 

ForeHand Organization Grant Guidelines and Restrictions: 

Priority will be given to organizations that already run USTA tennis programming and to individuals with a USTA Membership and sportsmanship record in good standing.  
 
Grant requests must be submitted using our online direct grant application form. Once submitted, requests are acknowledged via email. 
 
The NCTF does not provide capital, challenge or seed funding except in limited circumstances. Individuals seeking to make contributions to NCTF are encouraged to inquire if their employer offers a matching gift program to augment charitable contributions as an employee benefit. 
 
To qualify for a direct grant, organizations must be based in the United States or one of its territories and must be recognized as a tax-exempt public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code (per section 170). Educational institutions must be accredited by a regional or local public school district.
 
The following types of organizations are not eligible for direct grants from the Northern California Tennis Foundation: 
  • Community tennis organizations that do not serve an educational, community service or charitable purpose for the community at large
  • Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, disability, religion, ethnic origin, gender or sexual orientation
  • Groups with litigious or divisive public agendas
  • Advertising or cause-related marketing projects
  • Business development activities
  • Sponsorships or promotional events
  • Private foundations
  • Travel by groups
  • Video productions 

ForeHand Organization Grant Applicant Requirements:

In order to receive apply for a grant from NCTF, a program must be classified by the I.R.S. as having not-for-profit 501(c)(3) status and offer year round or seasonal tennis instruction along with an educational component. This includes but is not limited to tutoring, homework assistance, SAT preparation, community service and life skills classes. The organization must agree to work in conjunction with section staff to offer USTA programming and cultivate USTA membership for its program participants. Funding priorities include but are not limited to: 
  • Ten and Under/Quick Start Tennis and Jr. Team Tennis (coordinator training, start-up, etc.).
  • Equipment, supplies and coaching stipends for public tennis facilities, community tennis associations, elementary and middle schools tennis programs and USTA designated National Junior Tennis and Learning chapters (NJTL’s).
  • Community tennis awareness (innovative pro-active start-ups, program expansion),
  • Public high school tennis programs/projects.
