USTA NorCal is proud to lead the tennis community in honoring two of our own players who bring value, insight and richness to the USTA family and to the sport of tennis. We are proud to have such a diverse population, which includes a large population of Asian/Pacific Americans. Longtime Youth Tennis Advocate Passes Away


We lost a local tennis hero, former USTA NorCal Board Member, Diversity Committee Chair, Junior Council Chair and tireless tennis advocate. Mark Manning served the Northern California tennis community and the youth in the East Oakland area for over three decades. He was the first African American to be elected as President of the Board of USTA Northern California Section and the first African American to be elected to that position from all of the 17 sections. Girl Scouts Celebrate 100 Years with Tennis Playdays- Volunteers Needed


The Girl Scouts are celebrating their one hundred year anniversary, a milestone of discovery, friendship and leadership with two big events. USTA Northern California is joining in the fun by bringing our 10 and Under Tennis Play Days and we need the help of our fabulous volunteers! Anyone scheduled to volunteer at either of these events will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win two day session tickets to the 2012 Bank of the West Tennis Classic and a bag of goodies. Qualified applicants may apply for funding in the following categories: Individual Player Grant, Excellence Program Grant, Pancho Gonzalez Scholar Athlete Grant, Okechi Womeodu Scholar Athlete Grant and Althea Gibson Leadership Grant. USTA Northern California is proud to announce the 2011 recipients of the Diversity Committee Scholarship program.
