The Northern California Tennis Foundation (NCTF) and the United States Tennis Association Northern California Section (USTA NorCal) are committed to promoting and developing tennis growth and participation in communities throughout the Northern California and Northwestern Nevada.

Funding programs offered play a critical role in this mission by assisting organizations and individual players that seek to become more active members and participants in tennis programs, activities, and tournaments, and who are seeking to further their education.  USTA NorCal and NCTF's position within the tennis community is both an opportunity and a responsibility to provide leadership.

NCTF Junior Player ForeHand Grants - Click here for application
$500 to $1,000.  For junior tennis players who do not have the financial means to pay for equipment or entry fees in order to participate in USTA NorCal sanctioned tournaments or USTA national Championship tournaments. Because NCTF encourages young tennis players to give back to their communities, grantees must agree to complete 10 hours of volunteer service assisting at a USTA community tennis program, club program or tournament in order to be eligible.

Grant Program Administration:
  • Applicants may submit a ForeHand Grant request one time per calendar year.
  • Applying for a ForeHand Grant from the NCTF does not preclude an applicant from seeking funding support from the USTA National Office or National USTA Serves Tennis & Education Foundation.
  • NCTF ForeHand Grant applications will be reviewed four (4) times per year by the NCTF Board of Trustees.
  • All requested grant amounts will receive full consideration; once granted, will last for 12 months.
  • If an application is approved the applicant will receive a notification letter along with a check for the approved grant amount.
  • ForeHand Grants will be paid in full upon approval.  Full program accountability is required within thirty (30) days of completing all tennis programs and/or activities outlined in the grant application, along with any receipts, newspapers articles, photos, flyers, program evaluations, ect. documenting program or player accomplishments.  This is required to ensure future application submission eligibility.  If, for any reason, awarded funds are not used for the expressed purpose within one (1) year of receipt, they must be returned to NCTF.  As NCTF ForeHand Grants are awarded annually, awarded applicants will be eligible to reapply for NCTF funding within one year of their initial award grant date.
  • NCTF Junior Tennis Equipment and Program Grant applications are reviewed at an interim Board of Trustees meeting the second week of each morning and grants in this category are awarded by the 30th or 31st of that same month.
  • All applicants will be contacted directly if we have questions.
