ALAMEDA, Calif. — March 28, 2017 — Seven teams captured titles at the 2016 USTA Northern California Combo Sectional Championship this past weekend in the Fresno area, and three teams were crowned back in February at the District Championship. Cynthia Lau 2012 Arthur Ashe College Scholarship Recipient

Cynthia Lau is an Oakland native who still resides in her hometown. Introduced to tennis by a friend of her sister, she played on her high school tennis team her sophomore and junior years at Oakland High School. Michael Lee, her coach, convinced her to apply for the Arthur Ashe Scholarship, one of the four Champions of Character College Scholarships, which she was awarded in 2012. Read More
