Menlo Boys Take CIF Title for Fifth Straight Year
The power house boys team from Menlo High School, representing the Central Coast Section, defended their title at the 2013 CIF-USTA NorCal Team Tennis Championship presented by Farmers Insurance Group. The CIF NorCal Championships were held at the Gold River Racquet Club, May 17-18.
NorCal Juniors Finish Strong at Spring National Opens
Congratulations to all of the USTA NorCal junior players who competed at the USTA National Open tournaments, May 11-13, 2013. USTA National Opens are held four times per year, at four sites per age division/gender around the country.
Consistent Play Earns First National Win for Hill
Currently ranked #11 in the Northern California Combined Standings, 14 year old Sean Hill of Berkeley, won his first national tournament today at the Harbor Bay Club in Alameda. He prevailed over Alafia Ayeni of San Diego in 3 sets.

NorCal's Sam Riffice and Cici Bellis, age 14, and Michaela Gordon, age 13, are among the young Americans who have been named to represent the United States in prestigious international team competitions next month.
Kids are the winners at Stanford University Tennis Festival
More than 300 kids descended on Stanford University’s campus for a Tennis Festival run by legendary Cardinal Coach Dick Gould as part of a month-long series of Tennis Festivals held at hundreds of venues throughout the country.
Breaking The Barriers- Junior Art Contest
USTA NorCal is sponsoring the inaugural art contest for kids from Northern California in celebration of “Breaking the Barriers” an exhibit chronicling the history of Blacks in tennis. The exhibit will be showcased at the San Francisco Public Library from September 28, 2013 to January 5, 2014. The winners of the contest will have their artwork showcased alongside the exhibit!
McDonald wins battle of future Bruins at International Spring Championships
Good friends and future UCLA teammates Mackenzie McDonald of Piedmont, CA and Joseph DiGiulio squared off in the second round of the USTA International Springs Championships Wednesday, with McDonald coming out the victor at the ninth annual event being played at the Home Depot Center.
USTA Junior Competition and Sportsmanship Committee update
The USTA Junior Competition Committee presented its recommendations on changes to the Junior Competitive Structure to the USTA's Sectional Leadership earlier this week.
