Northern California Awards

USTA Northern California is proud to honor those who work to promote and develop the game of tennis with the ACES (Awards Celebrating Excellence in Service). ACES are presented each year in February and celebrate our players, program participants, volunteers and organizations for their continued commitment and service to tennis.  Specific awards are listed below.

President's Award


Selected by the USTA Northern California President of the Board of Directors for significant contributions to the mission of the NorCal section, to promote and develop the growth of tennis as an inclusive and inviting lifetime activity. Read More
 

USTA NorCal Service to Tennis Lifetime Achievement Award


Recognizes a volunteer for significant contributions to the game of tennis over a period of many years. Founded in 1966, this award is considered one of USTA NorCal’s highest honors for a lifetime of achievement. Read More
 

USTA NorCal Member Organization of the Year


Awarded to a USTA Nor Cal member organization for service to the tennis community, for service to its own membership or constituency, and for service to the game of tennis. Read More
 

Fred A. Earle, Jr. Teaching Professional


Recognizes invaluable contributions to the growth of tennis, made as a teaching professional. This award was founded in 1994. Named after the late Fred A. Earle, Jr., a tennis coach at Modesto Junior College and a member of the USTA NorCal Tennis Hall of Fame. The recipient must be a member of either the United States Professional Tennis Association or the Professional Tennis Registry. Read More
 

Warren Brown Service to Junior Tennis


Named after a former USTA NorCal president and the first recipient, Warren Brown. This award was established in 1985 to recognize either an individual or an organization for their significant contributions to junior tennis and a devotion to developing young players. Warren Brown was an avid player and founder of an inner city tennis program for children. Read More
 

Bill Talbert Junior Sportsmanship Award


The Bill Talbert Junior Sportsmanship Awards are presented each year by the Board of Directors of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Four recipients are selected from nominations received from the seventeen USTA sections. Each section nominates a player who exemplifies the finest qualities of sportsmanship in tournament play. Community Tennis Association and Volunteer of the Year


The Community Tennis Association of the Year award was established in 1992 and given toa not-for-profit volunteer organization that has shown exceptional and continued leadership in providing programming and community outreach. Community Tennis' Most Valuable Volunteer is awarded to an individual who has "gone above and beyond" in providing outstanding service to the community. Read More
 

Diversity Awards


The Diversity awards are given in recognition of those individuals and organizations who, in spite of the obstacles, have dedicated themselves to achieving excellence in the face of adversity and to helping young people of color develop their potential as athletes, scholars and citizens through the lifetime sport of tennis. Diversity awards are for Trailblazers and Icons; thay are for outstanding Service, Leadership and contribution at the national, sectional and local levels of USTA. Read More
 

Adult Tournament Awards


Presented each year to recognize those individuals and organizations who contribute to the enjoyment and growth of tournament play. Recognized are Tournament Directors, Referees and Volunteers; Senior, NTRP and Open tournaments. Read More
 

Daniel Scafidi Junior Sportsmanship Award


For exemplary sportsmanship in the boys 18s division, the award is in honor of Daniel Scafidi, an outstanding NorCal junior tennis player who was raised in Reno. In 2001, during his freshman year at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, a member of the men's tennis team, Daniel was killed along with his younger brother in a car accident. Read More
 

Wheelchair Tennis Awards


Wheelchair tennis awards honor most improved players, volunteers and organizations who support wheelchair tennis programming. The Ned Mansfield Memorial Award is given to a wheelchair player that displays outstanding character and sportsmanship. Read More
 

Outreach Volunteer of the Year


Awarded annually to Northern California based individual, team or group of who, through their partnership with USTA Northern California, has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and dedication in promoting and growing game of tennis in the community. Read More
 

Family of the Year Award


This award honors a family that has been outstanding in the volunteer and/or participation areas of tennis on the club or city level, regional level, or national level. The award is given for significant contributions by all members of the family. The winner of the USTA Nor Cal award is automatically nominated for national honors. Read More
