Peg Keefe is named the new Committee Chairwoman

Changes for 2012 and another great year for NorCal wheelchair tennis
Since Johnny Rios declined to run as the committee chair after an outstanding 3 years --- the meeting that was held at the Abilities was important. Wheelchair tennis is growing and adding new events every year. The 2012 new year won't be an exception. More interest and participation is coming because of the outreach and publicity that the committee is doing, much like !MPAKT Adaptive Sports, Teaming Individuals Emphasizing Sports, The South Bay Smash, the Challenge Tournament and more.
Peg Keefe, the Sacramento Capital Wheelchair Tennis Director, along with her husband Jay Byrn, pictured, volunteered to lead the way in 2012.
Peg brings lots of experience and has attended national workshops for wheelchair tennis. SCWTA received the USTA NorCal Outstanding Organization in 2007.
Peg and Jay raise service dogs as well. At the 2007 ACES Awards in San Francisco, their service dog Tundra was the highlight of the evening--barking on request!
We are so fortunate to have Peg as the committee chair. Johnny Rios did an outstanding job serving for 3 years. Through his service the committee has overseen a great growth in clinics, events, demonstrations, and now this year was the inaugural Team Tennis Challenge--North versus South. It was a great success and will be the start of other types of competition for wheelchair tennis. After all--isn't it fun to be part of a team?!
Thank you to everyone who supported wheelchair tennis this year; coaches, players, teachers, and spectators. There will be another exciting year coming right up!
