ORANGE TENNIS TOURNAMENTS - new in 2012


As 2012 rolls along we are seeing greater numbers of young athletes playing RED (36ft) and ORANGE (60ft) tennis. Although change can be hard, USTA NorCal is already seeing great growth in our 10 and Under memberships and new players that are falling in love with the game. Kids Tennis Clubs


Kids Tennis Clubs are offered at local schools, parks, youth centers and tennis facilities. This format lets kids “sample” the sport in a social and group environment. The Kids Tennis Club is structured like an organized extracurricular activity. These clubs offer kids the opportunity to have fun, gain confidence and meet new friends all while enhancing their social, educational and physical development. TAUT Player Development Camps and Early Development Centers


NorCal's 10 and Under Player Development Camps (TAUT PDC's) provide opportunities for our up and coming young players come together, build friendships, train under the USTA Teaching and Coaching Philosophy, and benefit from practice and interaction amongst peers. TAUT PDC's are section run camps that are being implemented by our TAUT Committee to help us identify players to be selected for the EDC Camps. Read More

Future Champions Team Invitational


San Francisco Tennis Club played host to over 100 top 10-and-under tennis players from 16 local Bay Area tennis organizations. The Future Tennis Champions Team invitational tournament, is part of a series of 10 and Under tournaments organized by Paul Allam and sponsored by the USTA NorCal. Young players age 6-10 years old played both singles and doubles team tennis using the Quick Start Tennis Play Format. Read More
 

Global rule change for tennis to take effect in U.S. on January 1, 2012


The United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced that on January 1, 2012 the rules of tennis officially will be changed and require that 10 and Under Tennis tournaments be played utilizing smaller, lighter racquets and lower-bouncing balls on smaller courts. The change was adopted by the USTA in the summer of 2010. Read More
 

ITF makes only fifth change in history to Rules of Tennis


The new ITF rule was approved at the 2010 ITF AGM in Washington. This was only the fifth occasion the ITF Rules of Tennis have been changed in the history of the sport, following on from the foot fault rule, introduction of the tiebreak, introduction of set breaks and the new optional scoring methods. Regional Future Tennis Champions Tournaments


The Future Tennis Champions Regional Tournaments are team based tournaments comprised of four Red Level, two Orange Level, and two Green Level players. 32 players from the ages of 6-10 were invited by the USTA NorCal Coaches Commission and the national Player Development staff. The camp was held at the Cuesta Tennis Center in Mountain View and included skills testing,drills, match play and an education session for parents. 4 Generations of Scouts Visit USTA norCal at 100th Anniversary Celebration


The USTA SmashZone Mobile Tour was a huge hit at the Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary Celebration at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, Calif., on May 5. SmashZone Mobile Tour, the premiere fan interactive attraction introduces children to tennis in a fun and interactive way.
