Newsletter #3
March 31, 2009
Hey, Mixed Captains,
This email is going to all our Mixed League Captains. Most of the information applies to those teams bound for playoffs. Please read this carefully! Your teammates are counting on you to know everything!
If your team is not going on to post season, you can delete this email. Thank you so much for all the work you have done this season. We hope your teammates appreciate you as much as we do, and try to act surprised when they throw that party in your honor and shower you with expensive gifts. You earned it!
DEADLINE FOR COMPLETION OF LOCAL LEAGUE MATCHES-April 5.
If the match affects playoffs, it must be completed by 4/5. Matches not completed by then will be counted in the standings as losses for both teams.
If you have a local league match to play that does not affect playoffs, captains may agree not to play. If the captains do want to play, don’t worry about that deadline. You can still play the match later this month and enter the scores.
If you have finished your matches and have earned a playoff spot
- If you are a host team, you should notify your opponent or any possible opponents of the date and time of your first round match.
- If you are an away team, you should contact your opponent and ask them for the date and time of your first round match.
- Remember that your teammates who are on more than one same-level team must choose one team with which to move forward. Only one post season team per level per person.
- Remember that only those teammates who have met the two match eligibility requirement can play in post season.
- Blank scorecards for playoff matches will be posted the week of April 13. If two teams have agreed to play earlier than the designated weekend, send us an email and we will post a card for you. Otherwise, no need to let us know. The scorecard will appear after April 13.
If your team will not be able to attend District Championships let us know NOW. To be fair to your opponents, you should step out now and let another team take your place in the post season.
FLIGHTS THAT HAVE A SINGLE WEEKEND OF PLAYOFFS (#1 vs. #2)
The designated weekend for your playoff match is 4/17-4/19. The home team offers the visiting team one date/time within this weekend. If both captains want to play the match earlier than the designated weekend, that is fine, but you will need to let us know so we can post an early scorecard for you. Do not ask us if you can play it later.
FLIGHTS THAT NEED TWO WEEKENDS FOR PLAYOFFS
#1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3 or
#1 vs. #2 in each division and then #1 from one division against #1 from the other division
Your designated playoff weekends are 4/ 17-19 and 4/24-26. If both captains want to play the match earlier than the designated weekend, that is fine, but you will need to let us know so we can post an early scorecard for you.
Remember that if your area has a wildcard, the two flight winners can agree not to play the final round.
For the second round, the host team must contact the away team, with date and time, by 9 p.m. on the Monday following the playoff weekend.
