Hey, Captains,

The 2008 season has officially opened. Some of you have already played your first match, others are gearing up for a June start. We know that you captains have done a lot of work, and we are very grateful!

If you have logged in and checked out the different drop down menus on your Team page, you have found all the information you need. For those of you who haven’t, you should!

Here are some very useful links:

Post Season Stuff

While the end of the season may seem far off, it is not too early to think about the post season.
Some flights will send two teams to Section Championships. That is what having a wildcard means.
The 7.0 and 8.0 levels have wildcards this season. You can see theses lucky areas by going to the wildcard link on your current standings table:

Playoffs
Unless you have unanimously agreed to change your playoff format, or to eliminate playoffs, your local league season will be followed by some playoff matches among the top teams. You can find a full description of playoffs in the Local League Rules, #25, and in the Captain’s Handbook. Links to both of these web documents are provided above and also on your Team Page. Tell your players to mark their calendars now for the playoff weekends designated in the FiftyMixed Calendar.

The Post Season Eligibility
The requirement for this league is still just one match per player. (All our other leagues require two matches.) This one match can be a default received. Post season includes local league playoffs, so plan ahead and get your players qualified during your local league matches.

It is all right to use a default situation to qualify a player, but once you have signed off on your line-up cards, this cannot be changed. Please do not call the office at the end of the season and ask us to change a player name on a scorecard that has been entered on-line.

Captains with players who are on more than one same-level FiftyMixed team should remember that a player may advance to playoffs and beyond on only one team per level. You might want to talk to these players now, and discuss their commitment to your team. If another team is their first priority, you need to know this.

That’s it. Play on. Treat each other as you would like to be treated.
