Grand Prix Rules and Regulations

The USTA NorCal Grand Prix is a series of tournaments linked together by a point system to determine invitation to the Grand Prix playoffs for NTRP and senior players. The Points Per Round System will be used to calculate the Grand Prix points accumulated in all tournaments played during the Grand Prix season. The Grand Prix tournaments will not count towards Grand Prix rankings for Seniors or NTRP. The Grand Prix Points list is the list type used for Grand Prix selection for both NTRP and Seniors.

To be eligible for the Grand Prix tournaments and/or prize money players must be USTA NorCal members. The Grand Prix tournaments will count towards monthly standings and year-end NorCal rankings. The players must register in order to be considered no matter how highly they are ranked.

Players wishing to qualify for the NTRP Grand Prix will be required to compete in a minimum number of tournaments to participate in that event at the NTRP Grand Prix.

The top 8 entries in each category (16 for Open/Seniors) will be invited to play in the Grand Prix event. Doubles teams for all adult Grand Prix events will be selected by combining the two partners' individual points and inviting those teams with the highest combined totals. Should a tie exist in determining the last invited position for the Grand Prix tournament in an NTRP or senior division, the following criteria will be used, in order, until the tie is broken: most tournaments played; most matches played; head-to-head matches won; coin toss.

USTA NorCal awards NTRP and Senior Singles Player of the Year and Doubles teams of the Year for each division. These awards are given to the person or team with the highest number of points in the Grand Prix season. The doubles award is based on the team list.

Grand Prix Withdrawals

All no show, refusal to play, or unsportsmanlike conduct defaults will result in disqualification for the following year's Grand Prix tournament. This decision may be appealed.

Note: Grand Prix information is subject to change.
