Beginning level teams help grow the game. USTA NorCal will reward you for starting one. This program ends in 2011.

The USTA NorCal New Player Reward Program helps jump start teams with beginning level players. You can directly help grow tennis by recruiting new players for these teams.
Recruit five or more players, new to the USTA, or players who have not been members since December 31, 2008, for the teams listed below and receive a stipend bonus of $150.00.
Form a team with at least five new USTA tennis players for the following teams:
- Adult Men’s 2.5
- Adult Women’s 2.5
- Adult Men’s 3.0
- Mixed 2.5
- Combo 5.5
You do not have to play on the team to receive the stipend. The program is open to everyone, including experienced captains, players willing to serve as mentors, pros and recreational tennis leaders
Who counts as a 2.5 player?
This player is just developing form and can play moderately paced shots. He or she may have grip and preparation problems, choosing to hit a forehand instead of a backhand. The player can sustain a short rally of slow pace, has modest consistency but weak court coverage. The player is uncomfortable at the net.
Who counts as a 3.0 player?
This player is fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth, or power. Most common doubles formation is one up, one back
Getting people involved and playing tennis has its own rewards. Treat yourself or your team mates by earning the stipend and using it for what ever you please.
