QuickStart Tournament November 15

Come out for a fun introduction to tournament play at the Redwood High School in Larkspur, Sunday afternoon, November 15th, for kids ages 6 to 14. Three divisions will be offered based on age and experience.

Developed by the USTA, the QuickStart Tennis play format will be used which includes age appropriate equipment, including smaller racquets, lower bouncing balls, and smaller courts. The kids are able to better develop proper tactics, footwork and technique at a much younger age, because the ball is landing in their strike zones, rather than going over their heads.

$28 includes registration, a T-shirt and medals for everyone.

2009 Junior Winter Camp Scholarship

The 2009 Junior Winter Camp Scholarship Applications are now being accepted and are due by November 6th, 2009. This year we are awarding 24 scholarships to the USTA Northern California/NJTL Junior Training 3 Day Camp held at Golden Gate Park Tennis Complex, San Francisco, CA. This is for tournament, league and high school players (ages 11-17 yrs old). Note: Daily transportation to and from the camp is required from December 28, 29 - 9 AM to 1 PM and December 30 - 9 AM to 4 PM.

Junior Team Tennis Section Championship

Sixty four teams from all over Northern California converged on the town of Clovis for the USTA Junior Team Tennis Section Championship, August 7-9. Kids ranging in age from 9 to 18 competed in three age divisions for the champions title and the privelege of representing NorCal at the upcoming Gar Glenney Cup competition, pitting Northern California teams against teams from Southern California.

Tuesday, July 28th - 4:00pm - 6:00pm play tennis then attend Bank of the West @ 7:00pm.
Free ticket for kids and for adult chaperone's who bring 3-4 kids.
Be part of the excitement of the Pro Women's Tour when it comes to Stanford University for the Bank of the West Classic. Play a couple of hours of fun team tennis and then receive a free ticket to the tournament that evening at Stanford University's Taube Tennis Center. Adult chaperones --- you will receive one free ticket for every four kids attending.

Gilroy Tennis Club Brings Junior Team Tennis to Town

Volunteers learn the simple techniques of coaching a team.

USTA Community Tennis Coordinator, David Hong, was on hand to kick off the first Junior Team Tennis League in Gilroy. Volunteer coaches learned the simple rules and practice techniques to ensure a successful summer season.

Community Tennis Associations and USTA Member Organizations all around Northern California are doing an amazing job of bringing tennis to their communities and promoting USTA adult and junior programming. USTA NorCal appreciates our partners in the field and will regulraly feature these organizations and their activities on our website. Cris has been the Area League Coordinator for the Sacramento Summer Team Tennis League for 15 years. Of his 15 years as Area League Coordinator, he shares his experiences and successes that can only inspire other volunteers and young tennis players to get into the game.

Sign up today to participate on a team in an entry level league! The Jr. Team Tennis leagues are geared towards new players 8- to 15-years-old and introduce kids to tennis in a fun and easy way. Using softer balls and shorter courts, kids learn tennis fundamentals and are playing games in no time!
