2012 NorCal Clay Court Workout

USTA NorCal and Clay Court Manufacturer Har-Tru provided the best juniors from NorCal a unique and exciting training opportunity to train on clay courts on July 9 and 10. This event was a reward for players who had qualified for the Clay Court Nationals, and also for all NorCal players who are ranked in the top 20 of each age division.

USTA NorCal is thankful to Har-Tru for providing this amazing opportunity for the players.  Har-Tru is a global sports company with its roots in the tennis industry. Har-Tru has expertise in developing innovative tennis products and their know-how in creating the best clay courts is unparalleled. "The first Har-Tru court was constructed in Hagerstown, Maryland in 1932 and the brand was born. Har-Tru is consistent, timeless, and intimately acquainted with some of the greatest moments in the history of the game.

Clay-court tennis is all about the journey and not the end. It reflects hard work, patience, and endurance. It rewards those who think before they act, who are creative, and who are flexible. It can humble you and it can make you feel invincible. Not surprisingly, the skills required to win on clay are the same skills required to win in life; hence it is the right surface for players of all ages."

Summer is the time when clay court tennis in USA hits its peak.  The USTA Intersectionals team event and also the Clay Court Nationals are right around the corner.  This was the right time to throw the youngsters into the clay and let them slide, slip and grunt out long rallies.  The workout was team training that was supervised, intense and focused.  The workout was intense but the players had loads of fun sliding and working that extra bit to earn a point.

We are very thankful to the NorCal facilities that opened their doors to provide this court time for our top juniors. The development benefits of clay court tennis are numerous.

2012 Har-Tru Clay Court Workout was the first step in the right direction to produce quality clay court players and help them step out of their comfort zone.

2013 will be bigger and better!
