USTA NorCal Junior Tournaments are a great way for kids to enjoy the thrill of competition by getting on the court, playing a variety of styles and making new friends. Competing in Junior Tournaments will help kids determine their personal goals for tennis—high school, college or pros. With a range of levels from novice to national competition, tournament participation encourages player development and advancement.
USTA Northern California is excited to offer both GREEN (78 ft. court) and ORANGE (60ft. court) ball sanctioned tournaments. Currently there are two levels of Green ball tournaments which are Novice and Open, and one level of Orange ball tournaments, which are hosted by our Early Development Centers.
Orange Ball Tournaments are played on a 60ft. court and are co-ed. Currently there are a limited amount of Orange Ball tournaments and are only hosted by the Early Development Centers, but in the fall of 2012 the Orange Ball tournament circuit begins and Orange Ball tournaments will be offered throughout the Bay Area.
Green Ball Novice tournaments are geared towards players who are new to competing in sanctioned tournaments. If you win two Novice tournaments you will be required to advance to Open level tournaments.
Green Ball Open level tournaments are for players who have won two Novice tournaments, or who have previous sanction tournament experience. Open level tournaments provide the highest level of competition for TAUT players in Northern California.
Keep in mind when playing a sanction tournament that each competition offers a different experience depending on the location/facility, players entered in a tournament, etc. Prior to entering in a sanction tournament be sure to review the
Junior Tournament Rules. The rules provide information about the scoring formats, draw formats, and the requirements of playing Junior Tournaments.
