More information .

Varsity collegiate tennis in the United States provides opportunities for thousands of players to continue their tennis careers while earning a college degree.  Check out the latest collegiate news on the USTA National website.  You'll find information on varsity collegiate tennis and the recruiting process as well as linking you to numerous college tennis resources and to updates from the department of Junior and Collegiate Competition.

There are three associations governing collegiate athletics: the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).  Each association sponsors the season ending National Championships for its divisions.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) serves as the governing body of collegiate tennis in the United States.  Comprised of nearly 1,500 men's and women's coaches representing over 1,200 institutions across the country, the ITA oversees activities involving over 15,000 varsity collegiate student-athletes.  The ITA administers a comprehensive calendar of tournaments and events and a far-reaching awards program.  The goal of the ITA is to improve the level of intercollegiate tennis competition and the quality of college tennis coaching.

It is never too early to start planning for college. As you can see above there are a variety of options when it comes to playing at the varsity level.  On the Information for Prospective Student-Athletes page, you will find a wide variety of tennis recruiting information, resources, and services.  Two of the most valuable recruiting resources for tennis student-athletes are the NCAA’s Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete and the USTA Guide to Tennis on College Campuses.
