A great weekend of tennis was played by all players at Chamisal Tennis & Fitness Club on the weekend of March 10-11, 2012. All players playing in this tournament also received the opportunity to try Tournament Director Scott Krueger’s signature Tri Tip & Chicken Taco compliments of Chamisal Tennis & Fitness Club.
In the Men’s Open Singles Division number 2 seeded Nicholas Edlefsen upset the number 1 seed Rudolf Siwy 6-2, 6-2 in the finals to capture the 22nd Annual Stahl Motor Company Elite 16 title.
The NTRP Grand Slam Tournament also had great play by all players with most of the matches going into 3 sets. The $2,500 Stahl Motor Company Elite 16 Open, Senior & NTRP is the first of 5 NTRP Grand Slam designated tournaments designate this year. NTRP tournaments can gain Grand Slam status by receiving the highest player evaluations and/or the most number of NTRP Tournament of the Year votes the previous year. All NTRP players who participated in this tournament received 2 times the normal ranking points and a 2012 USTA NorCal Grand Slam Champion umbrella. In the NTRP Women’s 4.0 Singles event unseeded player, Emese Erdos, upset the number 1 and 2 seeded players to win the tournament.
There was also much action and many good matches being played in the Senior Divisions. The Men’s 70 singles came down to the number 1 seed against the number 2 seed in the finals. Number 2 seed Tom Muller ended up defeating number 1 seed Don Castellanos to win the Men’s 70 Singles division.
