2011 Senior, Open, and Family Players of the Year Award Banquet

Congratulations to all of the 2011 Senior, Open, and Family Player of the Year Recipients and the Pete Sharkey Award Recipient who were honored at the USTA NorCal Senior, Open and Family Awards Banquet held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the San Mateo Elks Club.

Austin Sellary received the Peter Sharkey Award in 2011.  The Sharky award is presented annually to a male player, 55 years or older who qualifies by winning his first USTA Northern California singles tournament.  Austin won the Men's 85 Singles title at the Foothills Mid Peninsula Senior Tennis Championships held at the Foothills Tennis and Swim Club in Palo Alto in August.

The Senior, Open, and Family Player of the Year is someone who is in good sportsmanship standing with USTA NorCal, has performed at a consistently high level throughout the season, and demonstrated tremendous dedication to Senior, Open, and Family tournament play.  When the season ended on October 9th for Family divisions and on October 23 for Senior and Open Divisions, the Player of the Year amassed the most ranking points in his or her respective level.

USTA NorCal Senior, Open and Family Awards Banquet had great music, great food, and dancing.  A good time was had by all.   Thank you to Zales Racquet & Sports Shop, Swetka Tennis Shop, Tennis Station, Alpine Hills Tennis & Swim Club, Peninsula Tennis Club, Foothill Tennis Club, Seascape Tennis Club, Meadowbrook Tennis Club, Chico Racquet Club, Marin Senior Championships, and Whitlinger-Sarsfield - Stanford Clinic for your generous donations.
