Welcome to the USTA Northern California VOLLEYSQUAD!
What is the VOLLEY SQUAD and what does it do? The VolleySquad was created to support the USTA NorCal Section’s commitment to enhance and enrich USTA NorCal programs and services through increased volunteerism. The program is designed to recruit, place, train, supervise, and recognize our most valuable assets, our volunteers.
Most VolleySquad members are USTA members. Some are not. But VolleySquad members have in common is that they love tennis so much that they want to help out at community tennis events. The USTA NorCal VolleySquad Needs YOU! Email us today!

Outreach
The Outreach Department is responsible for membership, sponsorship, communications, volunteers and shepherding the organization’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. We have the following volunteer opportunities currently available:
*Aspiring Journalists and Photographers – Assist us in keeping our website fresh with stories and photos, including up-to-the-minute stories on our events, players, member organizations and tennis in the community. We always look to provide information on grants, programs, diversity awareness and initiatives, multicultural organizations and players, volunteers, coaches and CTAs and other information that bolsters our commitment to creating an inclusive organization!
Administrative – Help us to organize and ensure the timely delivery of
information to all of our constituents on everything from new programs to grant information to workshops, meetings, conferences, tournaments and community outreach events. Accurate keyboarding and general computer skills needed.
Meeting and Events Planning – We’ve produced everything from Cinco de Mayo Tennis Festivals to a Grand Slam Tennis Jam, from health fairs, Festivals, coaches meetings and trainings to celebrations for women in tennis, Diversity Forums and awards luncheons and galas. These events and gatherings are the lifeblood of our outreach efforts and require great energy and organizational skills. Each project might require two or three days of intense work over a two to three week period, culminating with the day of the event, meeting or project.
Hispanic Outreach – We’re making a concerted effort this year to support the growing Hispanic market with everything from Spanish language communications and collateral materials, community outreach events and projects, special grants programs, and creating partnerships with Hispanic businesses and organizations. If you have strong oral and written Spanish communications skills we can definitely use your expertise approximately one day per week.
For information on any of these exciting outreach opportunities, please contact Lita Anderson, Outreach Manager, at 510-748-7341 or email communityvolunteer@norcal.usta.com.
Adult League and Junior Tennis Volunteer Opportunities
ADULT LEAGUE
Local volunteers needed to help at League District and Section Championships held at locations all over Northern California throughout the year. Friendly people with good organizational skills needed to help run the tournament desk and to sell League clothing. Contact Lynn Losande, Adult League Coordinator , (510) 263-0441 or email losande@norcal.usta.com.
JUNIOR TENNIS
We need the following two classes of volunteers for the Youth Team Tennis Programs:
Administration: Strong leadership and administrative skills. Able to motivate fellow volunteers and ensure children can enjoy the sport in a safe and secure environment.
Youth Tennis: Enjoy Tennis and like working with children? Share the fun and fitness of tennis with children ages 7-18 by volunteering on court or as an organizer for Junior Team Tennis Leagues (JTTL). Like many other youth sports, JTTL relies on grassroots community involvement. With little or no tennis experience, any parent, coach or volunteer can introduce kids to tennis in a team environment.
Junior Team Tennis Leagues are playing all over Northern California during the spring, summer and fall. You don’t have to be a great tennis player, just a great tennis enthusiast. All youth tennis volunteers must have a current background check and have transportation. We will provide training and materials. Call the Junior Team Tennis Coordinator, Darren Wenger for more details at (510) 263-046 or email jrteamtennis@norcal.usta.com.
