Another great USTA NorCal Junior Team Tennis event is in the books.  Thank you to everyone that helped make the 8^th Annual ShowDown a success!

Taube Tennis Center at Stanford University provided a great venue for the day, and the weather could not have been better!  

This year, 228 players competed on 36 different teams.  The ShowDown was a doubles competition, with emphasis on mixed doubles play.  This was a great way for JTT players to get ready for the upcoming co-ed summer leagues. Teams were placed into group flights, playing a timed round robin format.  Each doubles match consisted of a 10 game pro-set.  After each round robin, the overall group winner was determined by total games won. 

 The morning session began with the 12’s age division, where 16 teams were competing in three different groups.  After the competition was completed, three teams took home respective group wins.

12’s Division Winners

Group A – Evergreen Breakers #2

Group B – Evergreen Breakers #3

Group C – Alpine Hills

Soon after the morning session, the 14’s age division took to the courts.  This division had 10 teams competing in two different groups.  In one of the closest groups of the day, the Alameda Islanders took home the victory by squeaking out a group win by 1 game!

After the lunch session finished, the 18’s age division heated up.  After group A play, we had our first tie of the day between Burgos Tennis #1 and Courtside #1.  These teams squared off in a closely contested playoff match, with the eventual title going to Courtside #1.
