2010 USTA NorCal Tennis Hall of Fame

August 6, 2010 05:32 PM

The four members of the 2010 USTA NorCal Hall of Fame class – former ATP player and owner of PBI Peter Burwash, UC Berkeley All-American and accomplished ATP player Marty Davis, owner of Spare Time Clubs Margie Campbell and super senior Jean Harris – were honored at the Tennis Hall of Fame Brunch and Induction ceremony, hosted by USTA NorCal’s Board of Directors, at the Bank of the West Classic, held at Stanford University on Thursday, July 27.

Stanford’s legendary men’s tennis coach, Dick Gould welcomed everyone and serving as emcee was Ted Robinson, Tennis Channel and NBC Sports on-air commentator. Ted said of his participation, "I’m very impressed with how NorCal honors all walks of tennis. We all tend to focus on the pros, but what makes tennis so special are those that volunteer and the people who build courts like the Campbells. And I am so moved to see a 92-year-old vibrant woman like Jean Harris contributing to tennis and setting an example."

Once again Stanford’s Cobb Track and Angell Field were transformed into a celebratory garden party. The brunch marked the eighth consecutive year that the Hall of Fame event has been held during the week of the Bank of the West Classic, immersed in the exciting atmosphere of a top women’s professional tennis tournament.
